The Art of Angels

Under the direction of  instructor Ms Nancy Van Horn, St. Peter’s Adult Learning Center’s art program, christened "The Art of Angels,"  has made great strides in the past year.

The work of our artists have been commissioned for display and sale by several non-profit organizations in the area. Our annual silent art auction and sale held at our Awards Night each July are proven "sell-outs". St. Peter’s artists’ work have been accepted in the Art in the Round Exhibit, and Auction at the American Visionary Arts Museum.

The artwork displayed throughout our building is not only a source of beauty for visitors and staff, but also a source of pride for our artists. The benefits of art for the individuals in our programs is clearly apparent in increased confidence, self esteem, and enhanced fine motor skills.

Financial support from the Knights of Columbus, as well as private benefactors, has allowed us to expand our art program in ways we had not imagined. We look for great accomplishments from our artists in the future.

The Music Program

St. Pter's Adult Learning Center's music program is a weekly activity. A group of about 20 enthousiastic individuals sing a retinue of selections ranging from gospel to R & B music. On invitation, the choir goes out to sites such as retirement homes and nursing facilities to entertain the residents with music. The music activity which was incorporated into the Day Habitation program about two years ago has gained tremendous popularity within and without the center.
